There’s something special about hand turned wood bowls. We use reclaimed wood from trees in Linn County, Iowa that were down due to a storm or disease. Our bowls give the tree a second life to enjoy the natural beauty of their wood grain.

Kevin L. Lurth - Woodturner

Kevin began woodworking when attending high school in Marion, Iowa. He enjoys the search of finding the downed trees and recovering them from their environment. We are fortunate to have many beautiful native trees in Iowa. Many times Kevin finds large groves of Walnut, Cherry and Sycamore. Along the Cedar River one will find many soft Maple and again Sycamore that like to be in wet areas. It is interesting how each type of wood has different characteristics. When Kevin is turning a bowl the grains, patterns and sometimes iridescence begins to appear. That is what he finds fascinating and pleasing to the eye.

“I love seeing my bowls finding new homes and others enjoying them as much as I enjoy making them.”
